About The Position

The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing, calculating, analyzing, and administering customer rebate programs to ensure accurate payout calculations, contract compliance, and financial integrity. This role partners closely with Sales, Finance, Accounting, and Power BI to streamline rebate processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and support margin optimization. The Staff Accountant will also play a role in process automation and continuous improvement. This individual should be creative, dedicated and able to work with a collaborative culture. He or she must have the ability to prioritize, troubleshoot, and work closely with other team members to identify and resolve issues, improve processes, and share data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
  • 3-5 years or more of related experience required
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or consumer goods industries.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Access, Power Query, Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations and related data per company policy and US GAAP and collaboratively work with other functions to ensure reconciling items are quickly resolved
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation
  • Support month-end close process
  • Review, validate, and interpret customer contracts, including rebate structures, eligibility criteria, payment terms, membership changes and exceptions.
  • Support rebate accruals, rebate metrics and payments on a monthly/quarterly/semiannual/annual basis using Excel and Power BI.
  • Coordinate with Sales to confirm contract parameters and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of rebate agreements, amendments, sales reporting, rebate calculations, payment requests & confirmations, and other supporting documentation in Shared Drive.
  • Collaborate with IT/BI teams to automate manual rebate processes, including workflows, approvals, and data flows between systems.
  • Perform variance analysis and root-cause investigations on rebate payouts vs. accruals.
  • Provide financial insight to leadership regarding rebate program performance, customer profitability, and contractual risk.
