GENERAL SUMMARY : The Staff Accountant supports the Finance Department by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data across the organization. This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions, including journal entry preparation, general ledger reconciliation, payroll review, and financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Must be proficient and have experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, work under pressure, and meet deadlines required

Nice To Haves

  • Payroll review &/or processing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with recording financial transactions which includes preparing and recording journal entries in accordance with GAAP and maintaining supporting documentation
  • Reviews biweekly payroll, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and accurate submission of employee pay data
  • Assists with completion of monthly and yearly close processes, ensuring general ledger accounts are reconciled and have appropriate supporting documentation to conduct analysis
  • Assists with completion of accurate and timely monthly financial statements and other management reports
  • Assists with budget variance analysis and reporting
  • Ensures compliance with internal accounting procedures
  • Provides assistance in preparation for and during annual audits
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed
