About The Position

Johnson Memorial Health is a nationally-recognized network of physicians, services and healthcare resources based in Johnson County, Indiana. The centerpiece is Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Franklin Indiana, just 20 minutes south of Indianapolis. The Staff Accountant II prepares accurate specialized monthly journal entries, financial statements, comparative reports and monthly accounts reconciliation of all subsidiary systems. They coordinate payroll functions, maintain and update fixed asset data, ensure timely and accurate payrolls, maintain project records, and provide financial support to various departments and committees. They also assist in budget preparation and documentation for audits and tax returns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience required.
  • One year of relevant hospital accounting work experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares accurate specialized monthly journal entries, financial statements, comparative reports and monthly accounts reconciliation of all subsidiary systems.
  • Coordinates the payroll functions to ensure that appropriate control procedures have been established and are being followed, JMH policies and procedures are properly administered, and confidentiality is maintained.
  • Maintains, modifies and updates data in the Fixed Asset accounting system with both depreciable and non-depreciable assets; records all purchases, transfers between departments, sales and/or scrapping of equipment. Monitors capital expenditure policy to determine proper capital/non-capital status; determines that deprecation of all assets is being recorded in accordance with established policy.
  • Assures that payrolls are prepared timely and accurately. Maintains accurate payroll records as required by federal, state, and local legislation and files all payroll reports such as 941, W-2 and W-2C.
  • Maintains an accurate record of all projects and construction-in-progress.
  • Provides financial support to JMH departments, various committees, and task forces and attends meetings as required.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Assists in the preparation of documentation as required by the independent accounting firm for the tax return, cost report and the independent audit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-services and workshops.
  • Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
  • Supports the mission and values JMH at all times. Assists Director and others in meeting departmental and JMH goals and objectives. Represents the department on committees as necessary.
