About The Position

The Staff Accountant II is a professional individual-contributor role responsible for supporting month-end close activities, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with Finance leadership, Sales, and Operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across accounting processes. This position reflects a broader scope and higher level of responsibility than Staff Accountant I and does not include people-management duties. CMC North America is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional with a strong foundation in general accounting principles. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple priorities, takes ownership of their work, and consistently delivers accurate, timely results in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Experience in a fast-paced or high-volume accounting environment
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition concepts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external customers

Responsibilities

  • Post and reconcile monthly accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset entries
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analyze income statements for accuracy and investigate variances as needed
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and documentation
  • Partner with internal stakeholders on billing questions, discrepancies, and collections
  • Perform other ad-hoc accounting responsibilities as required
  • Prepare AR aging reports and other recurring management reports
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, billing, collections, and cash application
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and established procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance function
