About The Position

Join a high-profile federal project supporting critical infrastructure in Alaska. We are seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee safety operations on a mechanical retrofit project at a secure missile field facility.

This role supports a mechanical contractor performing a chiller replacement at the MEB facility on the Fort Greely missile field.
Scope includes:
Removal and replacement of existing units
Rigging and setting new equipment
Piping modifications
Electrical tie-ins for startup and commissioning
Work is performed on an active, sensitive site, requiring strict adherence to site protocols and coordination with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Supporting two consecutive projects, ensuring consistent overtime
Must have own vehicle (no mileage reimbursement)
Contractor responsible for housing, food, and transportation
On-site office trailer provided
Client will issue a secured laptop for all work activities
Must be comfortable working independently in remote Alaska conditions

Requirements

• OSHA 30
• Current EM 385-1-1
• 5+ years of SSHO experience
• Strong mechanical construction background

Responsibilities

• Provide full-time onsite SSHO coverage with access to all work areas
• Implement and enforce the Site Safety and Health (SOH) program
• Conduct daily safety inspections and track deficiencies
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations (ENG Form 3394)
• Maintain and update the Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
• Ensure compliance across all personnel and subcontractors
• Conduct orientations and maintain training records
• Manage all onsite safety documentation (SDS, APP, manuals)
• Execute and document ENG Form 6282 requirements
