About The Position

Help students understand concepts and develop critical thinking and problem solving strategies by relating the course material to practical scenarios and analyzing case studies, , provide guidance in clinical scenarios and assist students in practicing head measurement skills.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of first year of NDT courses (NDT: 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 150, & 156).
  • Must be familiar with NDT laboratory techniques.
  • Must be able to help with NDT computer programs.
  • Require good communication skills, including listening with understanding and patience.
  • Ability to explain concepts in relation to theory and clinical applications, both orally and in written form in a one to one or small group setting
  • To be considered for this position we will require an application and unofficial transcripts.
  • Unofficial transcripts are required for all Adjunct faculty and Faculty positions.

Responsibilities

  • Tutor students through drop-in, by-appointment, and/or semester-long tutoring (online and/or in-person) lower-level biology courses by helping students understand concepts clearly with the use of anatomical models and online resources and providing guidance with lab techniques including the use of microscope.
  • Refer students to appropriate resources within the relevant resource center and larger Academic Resource Center.
  • Refer students to appropriate resources outside the relevant resource center/Academic Resource Center with consultation/direction from the relevant supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, adhering to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and keeping appropriate staff updated on student progress and problems.
  • Assist in the daily activities of the center, cover the front desk and checkout resources when needed , ensure students are checked in/out, help maintain a positive, clean, and organized center space and make sure students follow the policies of the center.
  • Assist students with computer systems/software and help students troubleshoot computer problems as they impact tutoring operations.
  • Use the appropriate scheduling system to manage and maintain tutoring schedules.
  • Participate in mandatory center training and other campus-wide training opportunities as appropriate.
  • Follow good work ethics by reporting on time at the center and staying the whole time according to the schedule and reporting absences in advance if possible; if not, in a timely manner so that alternate arrangements can be made .
  • Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
  • Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
