About The Position

Amazon’s Devices & Services Experience Design (DxD) organization is seeking a talented and passionate Sr. UX Researcher to join our growing Human Factors and Ergonomics team. The Sr. Researcher will apply deep domain knowledge and experience in Ergonomics and human modeling to significantly impact our business by informing the design of our newest and most complex devices. The Devices & Services Experience Design (DxD) team leads user experience and industrial design innovation across Amazon's device portfolio, including Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Wearables, Alexa.com, and related mobile apps. Our team works at the intersection of design, product and engineering, creating meaningful hardware and software experiences that enhance customer lives. Requirements

  • Have a portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports, personas)
  • 8+ years of hands-on work with: ergonomic product design, anthropometric modeling and fitting, lab-based user studies such as biomechanical testing and measurement, iterative prototype and concept testing
  • 8+ years of proven success leading Human Factors and Ergonomic research projects with demonstrated impact experience
  • Master’s degree in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with physical, physiological and behavioral data collection, quantitative data analysis, and statistics

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a technical field (software development, network development, IT, other related)
  • Experience with UX Research in non-US markets
  • Experience working in a highly Agile/Scrum environment

Responsibilities

  • Use your knowledge of Human Factors, Ergonomics, and Anthropometric modeling to inform the design of our most advanced and complex devices.
  • Help product teams and leadership determine the right research questions to ask.
  • Use your communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Define and execute (and, as necessary, invent) research methods appropriate to the questions at hand, including but not limited to field research, lab studies, remote testing, biomechanical studies, and anthropometric modeling.
  • Provide focused, insightful, and actionable findings by quickly and thoroughly analyzing a wide range of primary and secondary data types.
  • Translate insights into measurable design and engineering metrics.
  • Work with design, product management, engineering, and marketing partners to develop innovative end-to-end solutions that address top outcomes. Iteratively design and test these solutions until outcomes are achieved or hypotheses are proven wrong.
  • Develop and advance first principles that will be used to drive design decision-making and prioritization of investments.
