About The Position

The Sr. Training Program Manager – U.S. Manufacturing Operations is responsible for leading, standardizing, and continuously improving training strategies across all U.S.-based Vertiv manufacturing plants. This role serves as a primary learning partner to U.S. Operations leadership, ensuring that training programs directly support safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth objectives. This leader will partner closely with plant leadership, salaried and hourly training teams, Operations, Quality, and HR to design, develop, deploy, evaluate, and report on manufacturing training programs. The role requires strong manufacturing experience, hands-on application of Lean Six Sigma principles, and the ability to drive alignment and consistency while enabling site-level execution. The Senior Training Program Manager will play a critical role in advancing standardized learning, operational excellence, and innovative training solutions within Vertiv’s U.S. manufacturing network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development, Education, Instructional Design, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations training, learning & development, or operational excellence roles.
  • Demonstrated manufacturing plant experience with direct exposure to shop floor operations.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (minimum) with hands-on experience executing Lean practices.
  • Proven experience partnering with Operations leadership and influencing across multiple sites.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing training systems, structured OJT, and competency-based training models.
  • Experience working in a multi-site or matrixed manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to standardize processes while enabling local execution.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary learning and training partner for U.S. manufacturing Operations leadership, aligning training initiatives to business priorities and performance metrics.
  • Translate Operations goals into scalable, standardized training strategies that improve safety, quality, productivity, and workforce capability.
  • Partner with site leaders to assess training needs, identify capability gaps, and prioritize initiatives across the U.S. plant network.
  • Lead end-to-end responsibility for manufacturing training programs across U.S. plants, including onboarding, job-related training, structured OJT (S-OJT), multiskilling, and upskilling.
  • Establish and maintain training standards, frameworks, and governance to ensure consistency while enabling site-level execution.
  • Partner with Quality and EHS to ensure training supports regulatory, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma (minimum Green Belt) methodologies to improve training effectiveness, reduce waste, and drive operational performance.
  • Support plant teams in integrating Lean principles into training design and delivery.
  • Use data, metrics, and root cause analysis to evaluate training impact and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with salaried and hourly training staff across all U.S. manufacturing sites.
  • Coach and support site training teams in best practices for instructional delivery, assessment, and learner engagement.
  • Partner with Operations and HR to ensure instructors and employees are qualified and trained to perform their roles.
  • Develop and maintain controls, reporting, and dashboards to track training completion, effectiveness, and alignment to Operations KPIs.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of training requirements, competency matrices, and qualification records.
  • Contribute to broader Global Operations Learning scorecards and reporting structures.
  • Identify and pilot innovative learning solutions within manufacturing environments, including blended learning, digital tools, and experiential methods.
  • Partner with Global Learning teams to scale proven solutions and align with enterprise learning strategies.
  • Stay current on manufacturing training trends, learning technologies, and best practices.
