About The Position

Responsible for providing communication with customers and internal Cambro departments on issues of customer service requirements, on-time deliveries and product availability. Ensures shipping documentation is consistent with established procedure or customer billing requirements. Supports documentation of warehouse and traffic measurements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Ensures that all Cambro prepaid shipments (air/ocean/truck) meet all regulatory and compliance requirements. Communicates with internal and external Cambro customers to determine shipping-related requirements. Communicates with domestic and international freight carriers to ensure timely scheduling of pick-ups and deliveries of both inbound and outbound shipments and to monitor transit times, request proof of delivery, and process returns and claims. Gathers data and monitors carrier performance for IPT operation. Coordinates with warehouse supervisors in scheduling outbound and inbound shipments Identifies customers’ orders by analyzing order weight, cube, dollar amount and region to ensure the most cost-effective mode of transportation is used. Ability to calculate freight quotations for internal and external Cambro customers. Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization. Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform job successfully. Follows all safety procedures required in work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions. Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receive and give feedback, and treats everyone with respect. Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects. Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to immediate manager. Able to understand and demonstrate Cambro company culture, display company core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service). Understands department’s key performance indicators and contributes to achieve these goals both individually and as a team. Other duties as needed or required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in both oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to external and internal customs and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high-volume distribution, shipping, or transportation environment.
  • Ability to effectively use a personal computer to make inquiries and create and maintain spreadsheets, charts, graphs, documents, and routine business correspondence.
  • High school graduate or equivalent certification required.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school with a focus on customer service, transportation, logistics, and traffic, or equivalent background in a previous warehouse environment.
  • At least one year working within a warehouse or transportation environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, as well as to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, mathematical, or schedule form.
  • Two years’ related business experience and/or training to include freight rates, transportation business practices, and distribution operations in a high-volume transportation/distribution environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, and related training courses in traffic, transportation, or logistics management.
  • Three years’ experience in a high volume transportation/warehouse/distribution business environment.
  • Familiarity with Cambro product is helpful.
