Your role at Baxter As a member of the Baxter research & development team, you will assist in the world class development of new medical products. As a Test Technician, you will support the ongoing operation and reliability of laboratory environments and test equipment. This role is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance of laboratories and laboratory equipment. You will manage R&D laboratories and oversee the day-to-day operations to ensure compliance with Baxter processes and regulatory requirements. You will also directly support product verification activities through test fixture design, test protocol development, test execution, and test report write-ups. You will look to continuously improve test efficiency and testing methodologies. This position requires following company processes, troubleshooting problems uncovered during testing, communicating, and working in a team environment to meet project schedules.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Software Engineering or comparable technical discipline)
  • 0-5+ years of relevant technical experience
  • Strong interpersonal & effective communication (verbal & written) skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different functions, flexible, self-directed, organized, attention to detail, dependable, proactive, and persistent
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to use Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Function / Signal Generators, Power Supplies and soldering is desired
  • Ability to program machine level software and Excel scripts is desired
  • Ability to use lathe, bandsaw, drill press and other hand tools is desired

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and test systems
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibrations, and equipment status
  • Managing R&D laboratories by being accountable for equipment, safety and cleanliness
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating repairs with internal teams and/or external vendors
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to identify and implement improvements
  • Participate in audits and inspections as needed
  • Verify and validate test equipment functionality and document the results
  • Write test protocols, perform testing, and write test reports using Word and Excel
  • Monitor long term tests, analyze the data, and communicate status
  • Design, fabricate and setup testing equipment with an emphasis on automated test equipment is a plus
