The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a dynamic Senior Technical Writer to support cloud modernization initiatives for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Cyber, and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC) in the Alexandria, VA area. This role is part of a high-impact program focused on delivering secure, scalable cloud solutions that enable operational agility and resilience across the USCG enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably supporting federal or DoD programs
  • Proven ability to write and edit complex technical content for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, cybersecurity principles, and enterprise IT environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and documentation tools (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting USCG or DHS programs
  • Working knowledge of Agile development environments and DevSecOps practices

Responsibilities

  • Proven experience supporting DoD or USCG programs, with a strong understanding of federal contracting environments
  • Develop and maintain high-quality documentation including system manuals, user guides, SOPs, training materials, and technical reports
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, cybersecurity analysts, and program leadership to gather source content and ensure accuracy
  • Translate technical specifications and architectural designs into accessible language for diverse audiences
  • Support proposal development and contract deliverables by contributing to written sections and formatting artifacts
  • Ensure documentation aligns with USCG standards, federal compliance requirements, and Leidos quality expectations
  • Manage version control and document lifecycle across multiple workstreams
  • Assist in the creation of visual aids, diagrams, and templates to enhance clarity and usability
