About The Position

This position serves as the strategic architect of technical education for the Field Service organization. The Senior Technical Training Manager bridges the gap between manufacturing engineering and field execution by developing high-impact curriculum focused on the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex car wash systems. This role is responsible for driving technician proficiency, reducing equipment downtime, and ensuring a culture of technical excellence across the North American field service team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in Engineering, Education, Business, or a related technical field).
  • 7+ years in technical training or field service management, specifically within industrial manufacturing, heavy machinery, or automated systems.
  • Proven experience in people management, with a track record of developing direct reports and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Exceptional ability to synthesize complex data into clear, professional updates for executive leadership.
  • Ability to interpret training metrics and field performance data to identify gaps and drive continuous program improvement.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and understand the interface between PLC software and hardware components.
  • Ability to provide and receive verbal and written instructions
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
  • Business acumen including ability to interpret data and identify trends to impact positive business outcomes
  • Ability to resolve conflict in a professional manner
  • Must exhibit attention to detail as well as excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with LMS (Learning Management Systems) administration and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Direct experience in the car wash industry or with high-pressure fluid delivery and reclamation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Direct leadership of a Training Specialist, providing coaching, performance management, and project prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of departmental goals.
  • Design and maintain a comprehensive training catalog covering mechanical assemblies, PLC logic, VFD programming, hydraulics, and water chemistry specific to our equipment.
  • Oversee the design and maintenance of a physical training facility featuring functional car wash bays for hands-on "tear-down and rebuild" simulations.
  • Work cross-functionally to secure feedback and buy-in on training initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and product roadmaps.
  • Establish a tiered certification program (e.g., Level 1–4) that aligns technician skills with career progression and organizational performance goals.
  • Develop "just-in-time" digital resources, including video tutorials and interactive troubleshooting guides, accessible to technicians via mobile devices in the field.
  • Systematically analyze the effectiveness of training programs using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as "Time to Autonomy," technician error rates, and first-time fix rates; implement data-driven changes to improve learning outcomes.
  • Provide quarterly updates to the leadership team regarding program status, training ROI, and progress against established KPIs to ensure transparency and strategic alignment.
