About The Position

ENTRUST is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physical Substation Sr. Technical Lead Engineer to oversee the design, development, and implementation of physical substation projects. This role involves leading engineering efforts, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substation physical design, project management, and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • 7-10 years of experience in substation physical design engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and engineering software.
  • Strong understanding of substation components including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, buswork, and grounding systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with utility standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Sr. Technical Lead manages physical design of high-voltage substations (typically 69kV to 500kV), including layout, equipment selection, grounding, lightning protection, and cable routing.
  • Develop and review engineering drawings and documents such as general arrangements, elevation drawings, conduit and cable schedules, and bill of materials.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, protection & control, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC), and client requirements.
  • Support procurement activities by preparing technical specifications and evaluating vendor proposals.
  • Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support as needed.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and quality completion.
  • Interface with clients, utilities, and regulatory agencies to address technical issues and project requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
