Together, every team member contributes to making American Woodmark a place where people can express who they are through what they do.POSITION PURPOSE:The Sr. Tax Accountant will report to the Tax Director and will assist in the review of the Company's tax filings across various tax jurisdictions the Company operates in for direct tax purposes. This includes the Company's corporate tax returns; income tax provision and other tax compliance matters as assigned by the Tax Director. This role will manage 1-2 Tax Accountants and interface with various consultants and firms used by the Company. This role requires limited supervision, and the individual should be able to schedule, plan, and establish their own priorities for the tasks they need to accomplish. The position can be remote based or at our corporate office in Winchester, VA. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in direct income taxes.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/Accounting Applications and Tax Software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with Onesource Income tax and provision tax system.
  • Experience with Tax Research Systems (CCH, RIA, and/or BNA) required.
  • A strong leader, team player, and self-starter.
  • Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
  • Resilient in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • BS or BA degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or another related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Oracle and JD Edwards experience preferred.
  • CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the Company's Tax provision for annual and quarterly financial reporting requirements, including current and deferred income taxes.
  • Support tax provision and tax reporting processes for the Company (perform related balance sheet reconciliation, provision to return, ETR reconciliation etc.)
  • Prepare the Company's federal and state income tax returns which includes foreign filing obligations.
  • Prepare the Company's quarterly estimated tax payments and the monthly income tax accrual.
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of the Company's R D tax credit with external service providers.
  • Manage the communication and resolution of any tax notices from government agencies.
  • Assist with direct tax inquiries and/or audits, including data collection and analysis, gathering documentation and investigating issues.
  • Conduct direct tax research for new business initiatives and projects.
  • Manage 1-2 members of the tax group and provide leadership and guidance.
  • Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables.
  • Ability to organize facts, analyze, interpret information, and perform research.
  • Review adjusting journal entries, performs detailed account reconciliations, and completes workpapers for direct tax accounts.
  • Keep current on tax laws and research complex tax issues.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and other cross functional groups to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting across functions.
  • Support Tax Director on ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
