About The Position

The Sr. Systems Technologist is responsible for the optimization, support, and maintenance of complex communication systems, ensuring high-level performance and reliable operation. This includes specialized system and product application support, troubleshooting software-driven electronics, provisioning communication system infrastructure, and optimizing RF and Broadband architecture.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Field experience as a System Technician.
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems, and/or networking equipment.
  • Unique combination of multi-site RF communications system and/or computer/networking skills.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: P25, LMR, Motorola Smartnet, SmartZone, RF infrastructure, ASTRO A7.x Digital systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment, radios or consoles, Console Systems, Motorola Conventional, MCC Console systems, Secure Operation and installation procedures.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience with: MCC7500, MCC7100, Computer IP Networks and Configuration
  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations.
  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s).
  • Location: MUST live a commutable distance to the St. Petersburg, FL area.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain background clearance as required by US government customer(s).
  • High School Diploma/GED OR 3+ years experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Military, Motorola equipment, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering or Networking equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year Associate's Degree in Electronics or IT.
  • Motorola P25 System Tech Certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies, including Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment.
  • Possession of, or actively pursuing, a network certification (Network+, CCNA, or related certification).
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient with Motorola Radio Programming Software suite.
  • Skilled in the use of various communications test equipment, including: Communication System Analyzers, Ethernet Link test sets and Digital RF Power Meter

Responsibilities

  • System Management and Support: Optimize and support complex communication systems, including legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support for specialized systems and applications, focusing on troubleshooting software-driven electronics and resolving system/application issues.
  • Program, configure, optimize, test, and document complex communications systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain wired communications systems (LAN/WAN), including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
  • Install server hardware/OS and software infrastructure.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, focusing on trend analysis and documentation.
  • Develop and implement solutions for difficult technical problems encountered during system implementation, upgrades, or support.
  • Be available for on-call duties 24/7/365.
  • Technical Expertise and Reporting: Possess strong knowledge of wired communications systems (LAN/WAN) and proficiency in computer network installation and maintenance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of RF systems (transmitters, receivers, antenna networks).
  • Understand standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
  • Maintain total familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Provide weekly reports detailing activities and accomplishments.
  • Collaboration and Customer Focus: Work closely with Motorola's customers, subcontractor (MSS) community, Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams.
  • Solve customer problems quickly and effectively, even during stressful situations.
  • Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales personnel to design, implement, optimize, and cutover advanced communication systems that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Demonstrate strong self-management and self-motivation to perform duties with minimal direct supervision.
  • Must have excellent communications skills and consistently present a professional image.
