About The Position

The Senior Systems Administrator provides senior‑level system administration, integration, and sustainment support for mission‑critical applications and systems supporting United States Space Command. This role performs installation, upgrades, daily operations, backups, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance across virtualized environments, physical servers, storage systems, and specialized mission applications. Work is performed with minimal supervision and requires advanced technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to support geographically dispersed customers and engineering teams. Requirements

  • 10 years experience managing a Department of Defense (DoD) Windows Server environment
  • Demonstrated experience deploying and troubleshooting Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) in Windows environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing a enterprise-level virtualization environment (e.g. VMware ESXi, DellVxRail or Nutanix HCI)
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and/or managing a mainstream on-premises (e.g. VMware Horizon, Citrix) Virtual Desktop Environment in a Department of Defense environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing Microsoft Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in an enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated experience requesting and installing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates
  • Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server, especially Always On availability groups
  • Experience installing, configuring, and hardening Microsoft Window 10 and/or 11
  • Active DoD 8570 Level II Certification (e.g. Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.)
  • THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TOP SECRET / SCI LEVEL.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred; will consider additional years of related experience in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging vendor white papers, case studies, and best practices in designing and implementing technology solutions
  • Experience fielding Microsoft 365
  • Experience managing a Microsoft Configuration Manager Environment
  • Experience with administration of an Amazon Web Services Environment
  • Experience managing DoD Host Based Security System (HBSS)
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Axway Tumbleweed and Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) solutions
  • Experience managing advanced Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configurations such as on Windows Failover Cluster or Infoblox
  • Experience managing IT infrastructure in an operational DoD environment such as a Combatant Command (COCOM), Joint Operations Center, Service Branch enterprise network, or similar
  • Experience designing, specifying, or implementing VDI environments
  • Experience managing and configuring mainstream (NetScaler or F5) load balancer solutions
  • Experience implementing Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB)
  • Experience managing Raytheon / Forcepoint/ Everfox Trusted Thin Client
  • Experience standing up new Nutanix clusters and managing Nutanix Hypervisor
  • Excellence in process and configuration automation through Microsoft PowerShell
  • Advanced understanding of networking concepts such as routing and switching, and experience with troubleshooting from a network perspective with packet analyzers such as tcpdump, WireShark, and Fiddler
  • Advanced understanding of and experience troubleshooting within the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model
  • Experience managing DNS concepts such as zone delegation and service records
  • Experience managing Service Principal Names (SPNs)
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal and written skills

Responsibilities

  • Supporting system administration for United States Space Command mission systems, including lab environments and operational sites
  • Assisting engineering teams during software integration, testing, PITCO, SOVT, and installation events
  • Providing troubleshooting and technical support for hardware/software discrepancies identified during installation or after
  • Supporting secure system configurations, cybersecurity compliance, and RMF‑aligned hardening activities
  • Participating in technical meetings with NIWC Pacific, United States Space Command, OEMs, and contracting partners
