Job Summary The Senior Superintendent provides overall leadership for on-site field administration/supervision and technical management for all construction operations, including direct supervision of construction related personnel. As such, this position is entrusted with directing, planning, coordinating, and executing of work on time, within budget, attaining or exceeding profit goals, maintaining a safe workplace, promoting, and enhancing client relationships.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as superintendent
  • Broad understanding of the construction industry
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of reading drawings and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong management skills
  • Strong decision making/problem solving skills
  • Functions effectively as part of a team
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities
  • Ability and capability to oversee complex, and involved projects
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with construction management software packages such as Microsoft Project, Primavera and/or Procore, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents, project plans and specifications to be able to plan ahead and anticipate potential problems before they arise.
  • Oversee the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
  • Ensure project mobilization, demobilization and equipment needs are met. This includes ordering of all materials to be used by Holt Construction personnel are completed timely.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.
  • Manage and verify all work is performed according to plan and specifications. Identify and solve problems.
  • Monitor costs, and labor time, insuring these are within the project estimate
  • Develop and manage jobsite logistics, in coordination with Project Manager, for trade access, security, public safety, deliveries, Lay Down/Storage, and Facilities/Utilities.
  • Prepare and submit Superintendent’s Daily Reports.
  • Manage schedules, including preparation of two-week schedule and any other applicable schedules. Ensure all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates. Review weekly with PM / noting deliveries, long lead items, critical work, inspections, and any impacts affecting progress.
  • Communicate with owners and architects/engineers regarding field issues. Investigate and resolve such issues and assist in the RFI process, when necessary.
  • Reinforce and lead by example on Holt Construction Corp.’s safety culture. Enforce and implement safe work practices, including regional best practices and rectify job site hazards immediately.
  • Maintain good relationships with Holts internal teams, clients, vendors, etc., to foster a seamless and collaborative work environment.
  • Project hand off to set clear expectations detailing aspects of the project that are critical to its success.
  • Conduct quality inspections, as work progresses. (QA/QC). Maintain quality control tracking of ongoing work/notification of corrective action, as required.
  • Ensure all required third party site testing and inspections are coordinated timely.
  • Review and management of general conditions/requirements for budget impacts and projected expenditures.
  • Supervise completion of close-out documentation and punch list. Ensure inspections/approvals, trainings, attic stock, as-builts, etc. are addressed as designated per Contract and the Holt Closeout Checklist
  • Fill in for the General Superintendent on as needed basis
  • Assist in the preparation of all RFI's
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all individuals on-site follow and adhere to the site safety plan.
  • Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force, Holt, and Subcontractor.
  • Mentor and assist with career growth of the superintendents in the business unit
  • Attend all corporate required trainings and classes, for new procedures or policies.
