About The Position

Provide senior-level electrical integration and test (I&T) support for the Dragonfly Mass Spectrometer (DraMS). This role is responsible for hands-on electrical integration, execution of test activities, and anomaly resolution supporting Flight Module (FM) and Engineering Test Unit (ETU) hardware through instrument-level verification and environmental testing.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science or mathematics from an accredited institution or have equivalent education in a different field and experience.
  • Senior Software Engineer III shall have 20 years of space/ground system design and development experience including at least 10 years of experience analyzing system and performance requirements.
  • Perform electrical integration of spaceflight electronics, including power, control, and signal interfaces
  • Support integration of high-voltage, filament bias, valve/heater, pyrolysis oven, and temperature sensor electronics
  • Verify proper implementation of electrical interfaces, grounding, bonding, shielding, and power distribution
  • Support box-level and instrument-level electrical checkout activities
  • Support integration, bring-up, and test of low-voltage power supply hardware
  • Perform functional and performance testing of power electronics and associated loads
  • Support troubleshooting of power, control, and signal integrity issues
  • Support integration and test of rigid-flex and cable harness assemblies for power and communications
  • Perform continuity, isolation, and functional verification of instrument harnessing
  • Support design, build, integration, and test of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
  • Use EGSE to support card-level, box-level, FlatSat, and system-level testing
  • Support development and execution of electrical test procedures and test configurations
  • Provide electrical support during thermal-vacuum, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing
  • Monitor electrical performance during environmental test execution
  • Perform fault isolation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Support discrepancy reporting and re-test activities
  • 10+ years of experience performing electrical integration and test of spaceflight or Class A/B hardware
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Power distribution and power electronics
  • Instrument-level electrical testing
  • EGSE-based verification
  • Experience supporting FM and ETU hardware builds
  • Familiarity with NASA/GSFC workmanship, ESD, and EMI/EMC requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mass spectrometers or analytical science instruments
  • Experience supporting Main Electronics Boxes (MEBs)
  • Prior work in a NASA flight-hardware integration and test environment

Responsibilities

  • Support of complex and/or technologically challenging tasks, including the leadership in generating the Task Plan and Work Control Plan, providing guidance during the task implementation, conducting technology assessments and making recommendations for technology insertions, making trade study assessments and recommendations, supporting CDR and PDR, and reviewing deliverables
  • Providing technical consultation advice to Task managers regarding design issues, development and test approaches, and test result assessments
  • Leading teams established by the Program Manager to conduct investigations of programmatic or task- level problems and to make recommendations for recovery plans
  • Providing recommendations regarding Mission Assurance Program implementation considerations
