About The Position

The Missile Solutions Segment of L3Harris is currently seeking an experienced Sr. Specialist, Project and Component Engineer.  This role will be located out of our Missile Solutions facility located in Canoga Park, CA. The Project and Component Engineer will assist in executing multiple phases of assigned development or production propulsion programs. Communicates with contacts within and outside of own team which may include customers or vendors and responsible to identify, define, communicate and address general issues typically encountered within job area or function.  Project and Component Engineer will be expected to collaborate with multiple engineering, operational, quality, and supply chain functions to ensure successful component completion.  This Project and Component Engineering role will be supporting development verification, qualification testing, electronic/electrical circuit/system troubleshooting, and procedure documentation using established tools and test equipment to ensure system functionality and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant Engineering experience.  Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related Engineering experience.  In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Familiar or experienced with automated testing systems and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in EMC/EMI testing.
  • Familiarity with standard testing equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies) and software test systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuit design, analysis, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and schematics.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Project Engineering.
  • Experience working in the defense industry with an existing clearance is a plus
  • Strong hand’s on experience with electrical/electronic test equipment is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Determine approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Update and apply testing procedures to validate system performance through analysis of yielded test results and evaluation per design requirements and/or parameters.
  • Investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues encountered during testing. If required, perform root cause analysis [RCA], develop corrective actions plans, and communicate strategies to project stakeholders.  Support investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by preventative action/corrective action boards or safety initiative activities.
  • Ensure products and processes remain in compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements, such as those from UL, OSHA, or specific industry bodies.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with design, operations, supply chain, production, and project management teams to define testing requirements and interpret test results.
  • Maintain all test equipment within assigned area of responsibility, ensuring all tools and systems are functioning correctly and accurately.
  • Generate and maintain detailed documentation, including test reports, procedures, and specifications supporting project system components and assembly. Develop specifications, trade studies, design concepts, systems integration and component-level test plans.
  • Hands-on capability to perform development verification, qualification testing, and troubleshooting of electrical circuits and systems to demonstrate system function and reliability.
  • Supplier integration with external suppliers ensuing requirements are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Interface with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to provide coordination of technical, schedule, and cost solutions to team objectives.
  • Up to 30% business travel to suppliers and other production sites.
  • Position may require extended hours, as needed, to meet business objectives.
