What you’ll bring As a Sr. Network Technology Support Specialist, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented T3 Circuit Maintenance Technician to join our team. Recognized as an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge, applying organizational practices to resolve moderately difficult problems. In this role, you will focus on maintaining and troubleshooting DS3-based T3 carrier circuits. Your responsibilities will include monitoring performance data and alarms, initiate restoration activities, and collaborate with field technicians to resolve issues quickly. You will also communicate with network elements via TL1, among other protocols. Comprehensive, on-the-job training is provided. Works with independent judgement on expansive projects with minimal supervision, implementing policy changes to improve functions. Actions impact efficiency costs, schedules and client relationships. Interacts primarily within the department and with General Managers and above across various teams. Handles more complex network issues, performing root cause analysis, and working on the implementation of vendor/IT fixes or design changes.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of interoffice transport provisioning and/or maintenance experience
  • 1-3 years of experience with center OSS support systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Network Planning, Engineering, Construction and Mobility architecture
  • Technical Aptitude: A basic understanding of telecommunications principles, particularly DS3-based T3 carrier circuits.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to analyze performance data and alarms, isolate complex issues, and implement effective troubleshooting solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to monitoring systems and documenting all technical issues to ensure consistency in circuit performance.
  • Adaptability and Eagerness to Learn: Willingness to quickly acquire new technical skills and adapt to evolving technologies in the field of telecommunications.
  • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with remote teams and field technicians.
  • Familiarity with TL1 for communicating with network elements is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Analyze performance data and alarms to rapidly isolate and resolve issues within our T3 carrier circuits. Initiate restoration and repair activities to ensure continuous and reliable service.
  • Collaboration with Field Technicians: Work closely with field technicians in central offices to identify issues on-site and support efficient troubleshooting and repair operations.
  • Equipment Handling: Operate and maintain digital cross-connect systems (DCS) and multiplexers that support our DS3-based T3 circuits. You will work on equipment from vendors such as Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel, Fujitsu, and others, ensuring smooth circuit operation.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of diagnostic results, repair actions, and performance metrics to support continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • May require extended hours, including late nights, weekends, and holidays in support of 24x7x365 environment.
  • Interface directly with technicians and managers in the center and interface with other AT&T work-groups and other LECs.
  • It provides technical support and expertise in asynchronous transport network elements and ‘end to end’ transport path.
  • Provide support and management of transport failures, service outages and long duration trouble conditions.
  • Provide reports using data from various sources utilized in a Transport TRC Center.
  • Analyzes data and makes recommendations for process improvement.
  • Utilize advanced/expert knowledge and experience in Transport systems in a maintenance environment including ‘end to end’ transport path, DCS, SLC/DLC, SONET rings, MUX, (SONET and Async) and DWDM.
