About The Position

As a Senior Environmental Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance across a dynamic organization. You’ll coordinate and conduct field assessments, support environmental compliance programs, and leverage data and technology to drive continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to audit and compliance initiatives, and help shape the organization’s environmental strategy while growing your own expertise in a supportive, high-integrity environment.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willing and able to travel up to 5% of the time
  • 5 or more years of experience in environmental compliance, with direct experience in Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") and state specific regulations
  • Advanced skills in data collection and analysis, compliance software, and environmental management systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in science or engineering
  • Experience with air compliance and permitting activities
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences
  • Advanced experience with data management systems and a knack for identifying trends and insights
  • Experience in sustainable environmental management, hazard mitigation, and regulatory advocacy
  • A track record of building customer trust, optimizing work processes, and making sound, timely decisions

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and execute strategies for environmental policies, procedures, permits, and regulatory compliance (including but not limited to Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act).
  • Maintain and continuously develop comprehensive knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and permits.
  • Coordinate and conduct field assessments of environmental matters to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Collect, review, and analyze environmental metrics and release data; prepare and submit required compliance reports to agencies within the appropriate time periods.
  • Manage and deliver internal/external audit assignments, ensuring corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Provide confident, consistent, and timely advice to stakeholders regarding regulatory interpretation, policy application, and compliance management.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training, support operational compliance reviews and audits.
  • Oversee compliance data gathering and reporting as required by permits and regulations.
  • Utilize advanced data management and visualization systems (e.g., SAP, SEEQ, SpheraCloud, Enablon, PowerBi, ACTs, etc.) to maintain and improve compliance programs.
  • Develop and manage Environmental preventive maintenance (“PM”) activities in Systems, Applications, and Products (“SAP”) with accurate due dates and lead time.
  • Support business requirements gathering, document preparation, and internal communications.
  • Stay current on environmental regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
