Health, wellness, and financial benefits to offer peace of mind to you and your family. World-class facilities and the technology you need to thrive – in our offices or yours. SHI's AGT AI Team is hiring a Solutions Architect - SME in Data Center, Power, and Cooling for its AI Datacenter Practice. In this pre-sales, customer-facing engineering role, you’ll design and deliver infrastructure solutions for both traditional and modular data centers supporting AI platforms, with a focus on high-performance, energy-efficient, and scalable environments. Expertise in power management, cooling systems, and AI data center operations—especially high-density computing and GPU-intensive workloads—is required. You will travel to customer sites for planning, assessment, and solution validation, engage in technical sales activities, and work closely with SHI Field Teams and key vendors to drive technical discussions and evaluate technology options. As an AI SME in the Power and Cooling COE, you'll leverage knowledge of NVIDIA technologies or HPC platforms to architect solutions using advanced power alternatives and modern cooling methods like liquid cooling, ensuring sustainable and reliable AI infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience
  • 5–7+ years in data center design, operations, or architecture emphasizing power and cooling.
  • Expertise with data center power/cooling technologies (UPS, PDUs, generators, liquid cooling, microgrids, green energy).
  • Deep understanding of liquid cooling for HPC and AI platforms (cold plate, immersion, two-phase).
  • Practical experience with enterprise data centers, NVIDIA DGX/GPU clusters or similar HPC platforms; knowledge of related power and thermal needs.
  • Strong customer engagement skills—creating collateral, presenting solutions, leading workshops, and building client trust.
  • Track record working with vendors: technical evaluation and supplier selection in infrastructure projects.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for site planning and customer engagements.
  • Experience linking pre-sales solutions to field implementation with delivery teams.
  • Solid grasp of data center standards (Uptime Institute tiers, TIA-942) and efficiency metrics (PUE, WUE).
  • Superior problem-solving and the ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly to varied audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications like CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional), CDCE (Certified Data Centre Expert), NVIDIA Certified Associate, or similar qualifications in power, cooling, or HPC.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools for thermal and power analysis, such as 6SigmaDC and Ansys.
  • Background in creating business justification documents, including TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and ROI (Return on Investment).
  • Understanding of alternative energy technologies, modular data center solutions.
  • Awareness of sustainable approaches, such as carbon-neutral data centers and using AI to support predictive maintenance in power and cooling systems.
  • Existing connections in vendor networks—including APC, Eaton, CAT Schneider Electric, Vertiv, NVIDIA, and liquid cooling suppliers.
  • Familiarity with regulations covering energy efficiency and environmental standards in the context of data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical pre-sales expert for AI data center infrastructure, conducting site assessments, presenting solutions, and advising clients; may provide post-sales support.
  • Design and architect AI-optimized infrastructure for both physical and modular data centers, covering power, cooling, and redundancy.
  • Visit customer sites to assess and validate infrastructure requirements.
  • Coordinate with SHI Field Teams to align solutions, support implementation, and ensure project success.
  • Lead technical discussions with market-leading and emerging vendors (e.g., NVIDIA, Vertiv), influencing selection and product direction as needed.
  • Assess technologies and recommend strategic vendors for power and cooling components.
  • Serve as SME in power and cooling, guiding selection and optimization for AI environments.
  • Contribute as an AI SME across the SHI AGT team and within the SHI Power and Cooling COE by sharing best practices and supporting initiatives.
  • Recommend power alternatives, including renewables, energy storage, and efficient distribution to reduce costs and emissions.
  • Oversee the validation and integration of liquid cooling solutions for dense AI clusters in various data center types.
  • Evaluate existing and planned data centers for AI readiness and recommend infrastructure upgrades.
  • Collaborate across stakeholders to develop proofs-of-concept, RFx’s, and deployment plans for AI projects.
  • Monitor industry trends in sustainable power, cooling innovations, and modular advances.
  • Present and Train internal teams and customers on power and cooling best practices in AI data centers.
  • Analyze metrics and use CFD tools to optimize cooling performance in diverse data center formats.
