About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer at CME Group, you will engineer the secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions that underpin the world’s leading derivatives marketplace. You will serve as a technical anchor within our Shared Services team, building the infrastructure that allows us to manage risk for a global client base. This role requires a builder’s mindset and a commitment to operational excellence. Note : This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring 2 days per week on-site at our corporate office 20 S Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60606. Requirements

  • Enterprise Java Mastery: Proven proficiency in Java development with a track record of building and maintaining high-availability systems.
  • Python & Linux Expertise: Significant experience developing enterprise-grade tools within a Linux environment using Python.
  • Data Versatility: Deep knowledge of both relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) database architectures.
  • Cloud Fluency: Practical experience leveraging GCP services to build scalable, cloud-native solutions.
  • Ownership Mindset: The ability to drive tasks to completion independently while thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Precise Communication: A talent for conveying complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Master the Ecosystem: Navigate and optimize complex messaging protocols, middleware, and APIs to ensure seamless connectivity and performance.
  • Refine the Craft: Optimize mission-critical code for peak performance, providing deep technical insights during code reviews and ensuring flawless build deployments.
  • Eliminate Friction: Proactively identify and mitigate defects, performing deep-dive root cause analysis to harden our systems against failure.
  • Innovate with Intent: Leverage approved AI tools to pioneer new frontiers in shared services automation and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate and Translate: Partner with internal stakeholders to transform ambiguous requirements into precise, high-impact technical solutions.
