This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we’re developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin’s mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers (use as appropriate), you will Design develop complex software systems and infrastructure, primarily in Java or Python. Build and maintain web user interfaces leveraging frameworks such as Angular or React. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to understand requirements and craft solutions that accelerate all phases of vehicle development, testing, and operation—including launch day activities. Integrate and extend commercial products through technologies such as RESTful web services, and message queues. Troubleshoot and resolve software issues across installation, deployment, configurations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional (non-internship) software development experience, writing production code in at least one of: Java, C#, or Python.
  • Experience leading design and architecture for new and existing systems.
  • Experience with cloud-based architectures, deploying applications and managing containerized workloads (preferably AWS).
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures).
  • Proven ability to deliver efficient, working code with incomplete or ambiguous requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with openness to a willingness to learn from mistake

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years’ experience across the full software development lifecycle: code quality standards, code review, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Experience designing and operating scalable data platforms utilizing both relational and non-relational data stores.
