Sr Security Subject Matter Expert – WOB Position Summary The Senior Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a senior authority responsible for designing, leading, and overseeing comprehensive security strategies for enterprise environments and large-scale international events. This role includes developing an end-to-end, multi-domain security plan for a major international city hosting a high-profile global event. The SME will coordinate across government agencies, law enforcement, private security, technology teams, and international stakeholders to ensure the safety, resilience, and continuity of people, infrastructure, data, and operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, International Relations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10–15+ years of senior security experience, including large-scale event, city, or critical infrastructure security
  • Proven experience developing security plans for international, high-attendance, high-risk events
  • Strong expertise in physical security, cyber security, crisis management, and threat intelligence
  • Experience working with government, law enforcement, and international stakeholders
  • Excellent executive communication and briefing skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Security Studies, Homeland Security, or related discipline
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CPP, PSP, CISM, GIAC, or equivalent
  • Experience with Olympic-level, World Cup–scale, G20, or similar events
  • Familiarity with public safety command frameworks (ICS, NIMS, Gold/Silver/Bronze)
  • Multilingual capabilities and international work experience

Responsibilities

  • Leads the design and execution of a citywide, integrated security plan for a major international event, encompassing physical, cyber, operational, and intelligence domains
  • Conducts threat, risk, and vulnerability assessments for venues, transportation, utilities, and critical infrastructure, and designs layered security controls aligned with international best practices
  • Develops and oversees venue-specific CONOPS, including crowd management, access control, perimeter security, emergency response, and rehearsals
  • Serves as the primary security SME, coordinating with local, national, and international agencies and ensuring alignment with host nation laws and global standards
  • Integrates cybersecurity and technology security into event operations, securing critical systems and overseeing risk assessments, testing, and incident response readiness
  • Defines and supports command-and-control structures, advises leadership during incidents or crises, and leads post-incident reviews and remediation
  • Ensures compliance with international security frameworks, regulatory requirements, and event security approvals
  • Leads, mentors, and enables multidisciplinary security teams; delivers training and embeds security-by-design across event planning and city operations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
