About The Position

At Personalis, we are transforming the active management of cancer through breakthrough personalized testing. We aim to drive a new paradigm for cancer management, guiding care throughout the patient journey. Our highly sensitive assays combine tumor-and-normal profiling with proprietary algorithms to deliver advanced insights even as cancer evolves over time. Our products are designed to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) and recurrence at the earliest timepoints, enable selection of targeted therapies based on ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling, and enhance biomarker strategy for drug development. Personalis is based in Fremont, California. Summary: As a Senior Scientist, you will contribute to sustaining operations by troubleshooting existing manual and automated methods, as well as assisting with performance qualifications for new automated methods and instruments. You should be an energetic and hands-on individual who has the technical background to identify the source(s) of issues and find effective solutions for issue mitigation and sample rescue. Your work will contribute to a new generation of genomics-based precision medicine products in immuno-oncology and cancer clinical trials, diagnostics, and therapeutics being used by pharma, biotech, hospitals and clinicians.

Requirements

  • PhD or MS with a minimum of 4 years of experience, or BS with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience with DNA/RNA, NGS technology and lab automation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Excellent organization and troubleshooting skills required.
  • Flexibility, multitasking, and teamwork are required to support operations personnel.
  • Strong desire to work in a demanding, high-energy, hands-on, and fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using root cause analysis tools and techniques highly desired.
  • Experience in biotech and clinical labs is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Operations, Product Development, Tech Transfer and Automation team members for implementation and troubleshooting of manual and automated methods.
  • Provide timely support and training for Operations end-users.
  • Plan and execute performance qualification tests for new methods and instruments.
  • Evaluate and qualify new reagents and consumables.
  • Support documentation efforts for laboratory procedures and equipment qualifications.
  • Develop new methods and protocols for manual sample recovery.
  • Participate in group meetings and present results.
  • Use effective two-way communication to create and maintain a collaborative working environment.
  • Support and ensure compliance with all department and company policies and procedures
