Summarized Purpose The Exploratory Biomarkers group is seeking an enthusiastic scientist who will be involved in protein biomarker discovery and analysis with the goals of understanding disease mechanisms, human target validation and drug effect evaluation by implementing ultra-sensitive affinity-based proteomic technologies (ie, Simoa, MSD, NULISA). This scientist will also be responsible for evaluating and implementing emerging technologies/methods, including assay verification in new sample matrix, as well as maintaining operational readiness of laboratory equipment.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related disciplines with minimum 4-6 years of experience in protein biomarker immunoassay development and implementation or MS Degree with 2-4 years in above related experience
  • In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
  • In-depth knowledge of low plex and single plex immunoassays: ie, Traditional ELISA, Meso Scale Discovery (MSD), Ella.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Simoa technology and workflow (Hands-on experience is highly desired)
  • Thorough understanding of NULISA technology (Experience in operating and data analysis preferred)
  • Experience in handling biological materials (plasma, serum, CSF, tissues, etc.).
  • Lab automation (liquid handling workstations, plate washers).
  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills; attention to detail and meticulousness are critical.
  • Demonstrated strength in communication and professional presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct study sample analysis using affinity based proteomic technologies (ELISA, ELLA, Simoa, NULISA…) to support projects in immunology and neurology.
  • Novel assay development, validation and implementation for immunology and neurology project using homebrew methodology (MSD, SIMOA, NULISA), including feasibility development for novel sample matrix (ie, skin tape, dry blood….)
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental work by entering data in Benchling.
  • Maintain all relevant lab equipment in good condition.
  • Conduct independent data analysis and report results to the lab head in a timely manner.
