About The Position

Sr. Retirement Analyst PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are seeking a talented Sr. Retirement Analyst to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role would be located onsite at our Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ. The Sr. Analyst, Retirement is responsible for the day-to-day administration, compliance, and strategic support of the company’s retirement programs, including defined contribution and defined benefit plans. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of plan operations, partners with vendors to deliver high-quality service, and provides expert guidance to HR partners and employees. The Senior Analyst also contributes to plan governance, communications, and continuous process improvement within the Total Rewards function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in retirement plan administration or benefits analysis within a corporate HR environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations governing retirement plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency with Excel and HRIS/reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret plan documents and communicate complex information clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven organizational and project management skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to partner effectively across HR, Finance, and Legal teams.
  • Customer experience oriented, with a growth mind-set.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% as business need dictates.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing both defined benefit and defined contribution plans is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and/or database skills a strong plus.
  • Workday or HRIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and oversee daily operations of the company’s retirement programs (401(k), pension, and non-qualified plans), including reconciling the semi-monthly and biweekly 401(k) contributions and loans, hardship withdrawal applications, retirement related death claims and the defined benefit contributions.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, and DOL requirements; support annual audits, Form 5500 filings, and nondiscrimination testing.
  • Maintain plan documentation, summary plan descriptions, and participant notices in collaboration with Legal and external counsel.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and implement regulatory and plan design changes.
  • Maintain and produce monthly reports to assist Accounting with appropriate establishment of defined contribution benefit accruals, and true-up payments.
  • Primary responsibility for Retiree Open Enrollment communications and elections.
  • Primary point of contact for recordkeepers, trustees, actuaries, and consultants.
  • Review and validate vendor reports, reconciliations, and participant data.
  • Support committee meetings, including preparation of materials, data summaries, and meeting minutes.
  • Track and ensure resolution of plan-related issues with vendors and payroll.
  • Provide expert guidance on retirement plan provisions, eligibility, distributions, and retirement readiness and respond to escalated employee inquiries.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to deliver education, tools, and communications that help employees make informed retirement decisions.
  • Perform data audits and reconciliations between payroll, HRIS, and recordkeeping systems.
  • Analyze plan metrics, participation rates, and company contributions; prepare reports and dashboards for leadership.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for plan enhancements or employee engagement improvements.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of plan administration.
  • Support benchmarking and strategy discussions related to total rewards competitiveness.
  • Participate in special projects such as plan mergers, system upgrades, or vendor transitions.
