About The Position

The Doe Run Company is seeking an Sr. Research Technician to conduct specific chemical and metallurgical tests in the laboratory, piloting, and plant settings, ensuring accurate data collection and observations. Serve as subject matter expert regarding research testing procedures and EHS recordkeeping. This day shift position will be located at the Buick Resource Recycling Cable and Pallet Division in Viburnum, MO.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; relevant degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in chemical and/or metallurgical testing in a laboratory or research environment.
  • Must maintain current and valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to follow standard procedures, think critically, and problem-solve regarding technical work.
  • Ability to use and maintain equipment and troubleshoot errors and malfunctions.
  • Strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office programs, DataServ, and PeopleSoft.
  • Understanding of environmental, safety, and health regulations to ensure compliance of DRTC site regarding OSHA and RCRA.
  • Strong knowledge of research procedures and experience with lab documentation and analysis.
  • Effective communication skills to positively coach others in developing research data collection knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • HAZWOPER or other formal hazardous material training is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the team’s work to ensure testing procedures are followed regarding safety and accuracy. Includes training and coaching others in performance expectations.
  • Complete research technician duties including operating and maintaining laboratory, pilot, and plant equipment and complete sampling, experiments, and data collection to support projects. Includes coordinating teams to manage and handle hazardous material.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate data results to the project engineer and supervisor via spreadsheets, graphs, reports, and other written and verbal communication.
  • Perform inspections (ad-hoc and scheduled) and recordkeeping to ensure RCRA and OSHA compliance.
  • Coordinate teams to manage and handle hazardous materials.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
