About The Position

Under general supervision, the Sr. Manager Research at Outdoor Sportsman Group contributes to the Ad Sales strategy of the Outdoor Sportsman Groups portfolio of TV networks, digital properties, print, FAST, and podcasts. Coordinates with Sales Marketing to develop all Research materials for recurring Ad Sales literature including Upfronts, SHOT Show, ATA, ICAST, etc. Leverage MRI/qualitative data for Ad Sales prospecting and audience reporting. Examples of work performed: Works closely with the Director of Research and Ad Sales Marketing, to create effective positioning that differentiates OSG’s portfolio in the marketplace. Creates and maintains key reports, dashboards and analyses utilizing analytics tools that inform the company of trends and performance of company assets, the competition, and the industry. Developing ad-hoc analyses, distilling complex analytical results down to concise summary and presenting actionable insights to non-technical audiences. Experience with leading/oversight of challenging primary research initiatives including focus groups, brand awareness research, dedicated online community/panel and a variety of quantitative surveys as well as website analytics and TV ratings. Provides strategic research in support of client specific presentations and proposals. Fulfills ad-hoc research requests with minimal supervision for Ad Sales, Programming, Affiliate Sales, the network’s executive team, and producers. Provides daily, weekly, monthly, ad hoc and campaign specific insights to drive business decisions and strategy. Develop a variety of charts, tables, graphs, etc. to convey research messages visually for all the above. Seeks ways to automate reporting for recurring data analysis. Experience using Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, and/or ETL tools or languages like Tableau, SQL, or Python a big plus. Compiles competitive information on an on-going basis. Create a well-maintained, documented, and transparent reporting infrastructure that keeps all business partners updated. Present findings to internal clients, team members, and Sr Staff. Managers may provide guidance or training/cross-training to research team members, internal staff, and/or external partners, as needed. Fulfills ad-hoc research requests for various functions across the business, primarily Ad Sales. Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in marketing/communications/economics or related field
  • Senior requires a minimum of (5)+ years of progressively responsible experience in TV Ad Sales research or related field.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Power user of Excel strongly preferred with ability in macros, pivot tables, etc.
  • Minimum of 3+ years qualitative or consumer insight experience, ideally with the MRI product.
  • Excellent at the use of Excel and managing spreadsheets.
  • Ability to write macros, automate spreadsheets, manage databases, create pivot tables, and create graphics and tables.
  • Ability to work with large data sets.
  • Aptitude in dealing with numbers with high accuracy.
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, creating graphics that quickly communicate the key findings from analysis of numbers.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software programs.
  • Flawless attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to conduct in-depth data analysis.
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment.
  • Ability to work independently & in a group setting and demonstrate good judgment skills.
  • Must display excellent communication skills while collaborating with various parties.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MRI, Nielsen Marketbreaks, CMR, comScore, Simmons, Google Analytics/GA4, and/or Star Media a plus.
