About The Position

JOB SUMMARY : We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Sr. Research Scientist to lead research and development initiatives within our dental chemical consumables product category. This role is ideal for a scientific leader who thrives on innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring others while driving product development from concept to commercialization. This position will be based in Pomona, CA location in the near future, and will work from our Orange, CA location in the interim.

Requirements

Doctorate's or PhD degree in Chemistry, Polymers, Materials Science, Engineering or related fields is required.
3+ years of industrial laboratory experience.
Experience in applying good laboratory practices required.
Skilled in conducting standard chemical or physical testing.
Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

Background in adhesive, composite, cement, synthesis, and formulation preferred.
Medical device or pharmaceutical industry, preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

Actively seeking new technologies, and product features as part of innovation activities for the assigned product category and other dental chemical consumables products that could translate into new product offerings.
Create research activities outline (design of experiments) and schedule according to the company’s timetable and establish daily or weekly routines necessary to meet the project timetable.
Developed in-depth knowledge and deep understanding (Subject Matter Expert /SME) of the assigned category with a good understanding of at least one adjacent category.
Provide input and support in the planning of assigned category strategic roadmap.
Lead R&D activities as part of design control/design change project within assigned product category with limited guidance from senior member.
Proficient in NPD tollgate and design change to independently prepared and execute activities (example: test methods, design verification protocol and report, ECR memo, etc).
Lead NPD feasibility work and provide support on sustaining project at moderate to high complexity within assigned category.
Provide mentoring/coaching to research associates and research chemists.
Represent R&D in product risk management activities (documentation of risk identification, mitigation verification, etc)
Carries out experiments using appropriate equipment, techniques, and protocols.
Applies good laboratory practices.
Lead and/or execute experiments that scientifically confirm product performance, reliability, and shelf life.
Identifies deficiencies and modifies/improves existing procedures.
Expected to participate with significant contribution in at least a combination of two product launches or life-cycle management (sustaining) projects with medium to high impact/complexity level.
Applies scientific theory to reach conclusions based on data analysis.
Complies with all company policies and procedures including quality, complaint handling, and safety.
