About The Position

As a Senior Research Scientist at Origin, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our WiFi Sensing technology and driving innovation in RF signal processing, machine learning, and AI-driven sensing. This role bridges deep scientific research and practical application, enabling Origin to deliver groundbreaking capabilities in multi-device sensing, activity detection, localization, and intelligent environmental understanding. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and algorithm teams to lead complex experiments, prototype novel solutions, and translate findings into scalable products. You’ll also mentor junior researchers and contribute to Origin’s thought leadership through technical publications, patents, and participation in global conferences.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, or a related field (or a Master’s with significant research experience).
8+ years of experience in advanced research, focusing on RF signal processing, wireless sensing, machine learning, or related domains.
Expertise in algorithm design and evaluation for wireless sensing, human activity detection, localization, or environment modeling.
Strong proficiency with Python, MATLAB, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and statistical modeling tools.
Deep understanding of IEEE 802.11, OFDM, MIMO, and modern WiFi technologies.
Proven ability to design and conduct large-scale experiments, analyze complex datasets, and derive actionable insights.
Demonstrated success in publishing peer-reviewed papers, filing patents, or presenting at top-tier conferences.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to transition research into production-level products.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

Lead cutting-edge research in WiFi sensing, RF systems, and AI/ML-driven signal interpretation, aligned with Origin’s R&D roadmap.
Drive development of novel algorithms for multi-device sensing, sensor fusion, and large-scale localization frameworks.
Explore advanced modeling techniques to improve sensing accuracy, reliability, and energy efficiency.
Translate experimental insights into prototypes that inform next-generation Origin products and platform capabilities.
Partner closely with engineering and product teams to ensure seamless integration of research outcomes into commercial-ready solutions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, embedded engineers, and QA teams to validate research and improve performance.
Actively mentor junior scientists and provide technical leadership across research initiatives.
Support global customers and partners on proof-of-concept deployments and system integrations.
Represent Origin in technical discussions, industry forums, and academic collaborations to maintain our leadership position in WiFi Sensing.
Design, implement, and oversee robust experimental plans, including data collection, benchmarking, and statistical evaluation of sensing performance.
Lead efforts to test research models in real-world environments, incorporating diverse datasets and cross-device scenarios.
