About The Position

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a Sr. Research Strategy Scientist. This individual will be responsible for defining, integrating, and advancing evidence-generation strategies that align clinical, scientific, regulatory, and business objectives. This role translates unmet clinical needs, competitive landscapes, and organizational priorities into cohesive, executable research roadmaps that maximize scientific impact, regulatory value, and downstream adoption. This role operates in a highly-matrixed manner as a strategic architect role for evidence generation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Engineering or related discipline required.
  • 5 years of experience in Research, Clinical, Medical Affairs or Consulting OR 3+ years of experience with MD/PhD.
  • Experience working directly with knee or hip-focused orthopedic products, procedures, or clinical indications required.
  • Ability to analyze scientific literature, regulatory guidance, and competitive intelligence to inform research strategy.
  • Skilled in organizing and integrating diverse data sources into cohesive frameworks and roadmaps.
  • Ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives concurrently, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term objectives.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively in a matrixed environment with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific and strategic concepts clearly to varied audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Adaptability to evolving priorities and regulatory landscapes while maintaining compliance and scientific integrity.
  • Ability to influence decision-making through evidence-based recommendations and strategic insights.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.
  • Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.
  • Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Experience applying orthopedic anatomy, pathology, or surgical technique knowledge to shape research questions or evidence strategy preferred.
  • Direct experience supporting orthopedic products, procedures, or indications in a research, clinical, medical affairs, or strategy capacity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advance research and evidence-generation strategies aligned with clinical, regulatory, and business objectives.
  • Translate unmet clinical needs and evidence gaps into clear research questions and prioritized roadmaps.
  • Conduct and synthesize scientific, clinical, and competitive landscape analyses to inform strategic decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment of research strategy with product, regulatory, and education needs.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs among scientific rigor, speed, cost, risk, and downstream impact.
  • Communicate research strategy recommendations through clear, actionable materials for diverse stakeholders.
  • Support research governance, prioritization, and portfolio planning processes.
  • Monitor alignment between approved strategies and execution, recommending adjustments as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of research planning frameworks and best practices.
  • Uphold standards for scientific integrity, regulatory compliance, and ethical conduct.
  • Drive the development and refinement of end-to-end research strategy for major products, franchises and/or technology platforms.
  • Develop integrated, multi-year evidence generation roadmaps.
  • Advise leadership on research prioritization, portfolio tradeoffs and future competitive needs.
  • Mentor junior staff and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Represent the company to regulators, KOLs, and scientific communities.
  • Advanced knowledge of related anatomy and surgical techniques.
