About The Position

The Senior Reinsurance Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely accounting, analysis, and reporting of reinsurance activity in compliance with GAAP, statutory requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley controls, supporting the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. The role serves as the primary point of contact for intermediaries, reinsurers, auditors, and internal stakeholders, managing reinsurance reporting, claim communications, coverage inquiries, and collections while preparing complex standard and ad hoc financial reports for management. Additionally, the analyst acts as a key liaison with Reinsurance Operations, supports regulatory and supplemental financial statement reporting, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiency within the reinsurance accounting function. This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university.
  • Clear knowledge and proven abilities in Reinsurance account processing and a minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably reinsurance accounting in a property/casualty insurance environment.
  • Ability to accurately research and follow through on complex problem-solving items, as well as initiate resolutions at multiple levels within the organization.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize and effectively meet deadlines for multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong teamwork skills and display professional demeanor encompassing company’s vision and values and enthusiasm for in-person collaboration.
  • Remain flexible in a fast-paced environment and possess a customer focused attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient PC skills, particularly in Excel, Access and Word.
  • Skills in accounting and reinsurance software preferred.
  • Experience with reinsurance treaties and accounting is preferred but not required.
  • CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist with meeting Statutory filing requirements on a timely basis.
  • Posting journal entries and completing required reconciliations to facilitate the monthly close process.
  • Timely reporting and analysis of reinsurance accounts to intermediaries and reinsurers.
  • Serve as the main point of contact with intermediaries and reinsurers on claim reporting, reinsurance coverage questions, and collection items.
  • Prepare and analyze complex standard financial reinsurance and ad hoc reports for management.
  • Assist as the accounting liaison for US reinsurance communications with Reinsurance Operations counterparts in the organization.
  • Prepare reporting schedules for quarter and year end supplemental reporting to the financial statements.
  • Own relationship with variety of internal and external stakeholders eg. internal audit, external audit and insurance brokers.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the Reinsurance accounting team and bring a pro-active and solution orientated attitude.
