About The Position

Responsible for reviewing and assessing LAD Financial Underwriting quote activities for groups with greater than or equal to 500 lives and communicating results to the individual and management while identifying common trends. Works with management to identify weaknesses when an issue or trend is identified. Makes recommendations for improvements through training needs, system enhancements and/or best practice changes. Assists with establishing, enhancing, and maintaining best practices related to underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures, and workflows.

Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-8 years of cumulative, relevant experience.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of duties.
  • Experience reviewing complex, experience-rated cases and identifying rating or guideline discrepancies.
  • Strong understanding of large case underwriting (500+), with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to Underwriters and Leadership.
  • High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess Underwriter adherence to documented guidelines related to authority limits, pricing documentation, case tracking, pricing strategies, and compliance regulations for pricing events related to New Business, Sold Business, Renewal Business, and other events tied to in force case management such as Add Issues and Benefit Changes.
  • Evaluate application of Underwriting judgment, case level risk assessment, rate development, pricing decisions, and safe assumption protocols.
  • Collaborate with the underwriting training team to identify training opportunities.
  • Assist in presenting and creating training material to address gaps found during the Quality Management reviews.
  • Assist with establishing, enhancing, and maintaining best practices related to underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures, and workflows.
  • Provide underwriting support during peak periods by working on case assignments and collaborating effectively with the team in order to meet customer deadlines.
  • Act as a resource for the underwriting team and other functional areas as needed.
  • Participate in strategic projects as assigned.
  • Apply knowledge to lead or participate in project work.
