Job Summary Traveling Sr. Purchasing Specialist - Morrison Healthcare Schedule: 10 Days On / 4 Days Off Travel: 80-100% (Southeast Region) 70 - 75K Morrison Healthcare is seeking a Traveling Sr. Purchasing Specialist with a strong culinary background to support multiple hospital locations. This role provides onsite purchasing, inventory, and operational support during vacancies, transitions, and openings. Candidates must be experienced chefs with high-volume food purchasing expertise.

Requirements

  • Culinary background required - must have chef experience
  • 5+ years of high-volume food purchasing experience in foodservice or healthcare
  • Strong knowledge of food specifications, cost control, and menu-driven purchasing
  • Ability to travel on a 10/4 rotation
  • Proficiency with purchasing and inventory systems
  • ServSafe certification or ability to obtain

Nice To Haves

  • Compass Group or healthcare foodservice experience
  • Proven success improving food cost, accuracy, and purchasing efficiency
  • Strong communication and training skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage high-volume food purchasing using approved vendors and systems
  • Maintain accurate inventories, par levels, and order guides
  • Monitor food cost, quality, and product availability
  • Support Executive Chefs and Directors to align purchasing with menus and production needs
  • Provide temporary onsite purchasing coverage for multiple accounts
  • Troubleshoot supply issues and ensure product continuity
  • Train unit teams on purchasing procedures, inventory tools, and compliance
  • Support food safety, HACCP, ServSafe, and regulatory purchasing requirements
