About The Position

Rehlko is searching for a Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced controls technologies and algorithms, create system-level requirements for controllers, and develop intellectual property (IP) through patent documentation. In this role, you will serve as a technical expert in system-level generator communications and paralleling, working cross-functionally to deliver innovative solutions and address complex technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Demonstrate 4 years of related work experience, or hold a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and abstract reasoning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Collaborate independently and as part of a team to achieve desired results.
  • Display proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Assembly Language.
  • Have experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and other tools such as PSPICE, OrCAD, Verilog, VHDL, PLC programming, and Microsoft Project.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, global awareness, and problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with communication protocols like CAN and MODBUS is preferred.
  • Experience with processor, memory, and communication technologies, as well as regulatory standards, is advantageous.
  • Bring knowledge of switchgear applications, paralleling control topologies, electrical machines, power electronics, engines, and embedded systems such as NXP processors with the IDE Keil.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and document electrical system architectures to meet project goals.
  • Apply industry-standard modeling and simulation techniques to validate new design assumptions.
  • Develop and document plant models to support the simulation and testing of controller algorithms.
  • Collaborate across functional teams to define and document system requirements and specifications.
  • Create and validate electronic control system performance specifications in coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Innovate system-level designs for current and future projects, contributing as a technical expert.
  • Develop and document system DFMEA in collaboration with team members.
  • Offer technical feedback during team design reviews to ensure generator system quality.
  • Partner with patent attorneys to develop patentable ideas and alternative solutions for existing patents.
  • Investigate, resolve, and document technical issues related to generator system performance.
  • Engage with external technical experts and upper management to evaluate the feasibility of new concepts.
  • Represent Rehlko in professional societies and associations to share technical expertise.
  • Undertake special technical projects as directed by departmental needs.
