This is a seconded position, meaning the selected candidate will be employed by ITAC but work full-time on assignment with one of our clients. While day-to-day responsibilities will be managed on-site with the client, ITAC provides ongoing support, resources, and benefits as your employer. This position part time working Tuesday - Thursday and is for an expected duration of six (6) months with an opportunity for extension. Please only apply if these requirements are agreeable to you. Objective To engage a highly qualified Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) Facilitator who will lead, coordinate, and document comprehensive hazard assessments across industrial operations. The facilitator will ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119), apply industry‑recognized methodologies (HAZOP, What‑If, FMEA, LOPA), and guide cross‑functional teams in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating process risks. The objective is to enhance operational safety, improve process reliability, and support the organization’s commitment to proactive risk management and continuous improvement. Position Independently applies knowledge of analysis, synthesis, and design of chemical processes. Maintains a focus on process safety and operability throughout all phases of design Troubleshoots operating processes and develops sound engineering solutions Works with clients and other design disciplines to establish project basis of design, develop options, make recommendations, and optimize selected design Participates interactively in the planning, scheduling, and development of project execution Works primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to project sites through all project phases from concept through start-up. Ability to lead process engineering effort for assigned projects, track budget, and track schedule. Interpret and develop material & energy balances. Develop, and create Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Ability to navigate through regulations, codes, and industry standards and apply to projects. Oversee the work of designers to produce CAD drawings of the systems designed by the Process Team. Coordinate with equipment vendors to determine appropriate design considerations, design approval, and equipment pricing. Present designs to clients for approval and discuss needs for modification. Participates in PHAs / HAZOP as a process team representative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering
  • PHA Leader Certification or extensive experience in PHAs/HAZOP
  • 7+ years of experience in design engineering or technology licensing organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex process-related issues
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Interpret regulations, codes, and industry standards ensures that designs meet established requirements and good engineering practices.
