About The Position

The successful Sr. Principal Scientist - Pathologist candidate will join an experienced team of pathologists, translational scientists and digital image analysis experts providing discovery and clinical development support across a broad portfolio of programs covering a large breadth of disease areas. In addition to routine pathology evaluation, there will be a strong emphasis on supporting novel biomarker analysis research with a collaborative team of clinical pathology, histology and translational scientists. The Sr Principal Scientist-Pathologist provides anatomical and clinical pathology support, scientific and technical direction, and operational leadership across Flagship. The successful Sr Principal Sci-Pathologist candidate will support efforts focused on new assay development, driving applications for digital pathology, and interpreting existing and novel endpoint. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific findings into actionable insights for cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • MD, DO or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD/BVSc).
  • >2 years of experience as a pathologist in biotech, pharma or at a CRO preferable.
  • Demonstrated experience in immunohistochemistry assay development
  • Demonstrated experience with digital pathology analytical tools and approaches
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 5% of the time, depending on the needs of the project, the client and the company.
  • Ability to accommodate evening, overnight or weekend travel, including potential extended trips to attend training, meetings, conduct fieldwork, or meet with clients.
  • This position requires full-time on-site presence at our Broomfield, CO location.

Nice To Haves

  • For DVM; ACVP/ECVP-board certification in anatomic pathology and PhD strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support preclinical and clinical studies including biomarker and endpoint selection, digital pathology method development and analysis, and IHC/ISH interpretation.
  • Collaboratively drive the development, interpretation and reporting of tissue-based assays including: In situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, multiplexing, spatial omics and image analysis
  • Interface with and support pathology needs of Translation and Image Analysis scientists.
  • Conduct gross and microscopic examination of samples, interpret and determine significance of results for histopathology, molecular pathology and clinical pathology.
  • Provide written pathology reports, memos, and other communications that accurately and concisely reflect the data collected.
  • Serve as the primary scientific liaison for pathology-related engagements with clients, regulatory agencies, and external collaborators.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring exceptional service delivery, scientific rigor, and responsiveness to project needs.
  • Represent the organization at scientific conferences, industry events, and regulatory engagements, promoting thought leadership in pathology.
  • Actively contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing, pricing strategies, and expansion of client partnerships.
  • May assist in project and regulatory strategy, guiding development and project prioritization by responding quickly to data from ongoing studies and providing input to management and development teams.
