About The Position

ECS Federal is seeking a Sr. Platform Engineer to work out of our Fairfax and/or Springfield office supporting our government customer. This position will require experience building and troubleshooting Linux Systems as well as integrating containerized technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience with Kubernetes as well as 8+ years working on RHEL. Experience working with multicast video is beneficial. The candidate will work with a cross functional team of other Linux Systems Engineers, Project Managers, and Software Developers to build, assess, and deploy a variety of software and hardware products globally. The Senior Platform Engineer should have prior experience in designing/architecting enterprise scale systems incorporating a variety of components (COTS, GOTS, & open source) and supporting integration efforts. This individual performs in a multidisciplinary team environment with tight deadlines. The successful candidate is initiative-taking, eager to implement modern and emerging technologies, and thrives working alongside a cross functional team of technical professionals.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or a related Information Technology field with 8 years of Linux systems engineering experience
  • In lieu of a CS/IT degree, 10 years of Linux systems engineering experience
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance (Must be willing to sit for a Counterintelligence (CI) Poly)
  • Active DoD 8140 Level II Baseline Certification
  • Experience utilizing containerization technologies (e.g. Docker) and orchestration frameworks (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • Experience with Ansible, Puppet or similar tools
  • An individual with proven ability to work and collaborate with a software development team
  • Ability to travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with multicast video is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Documenting and reporting system discrepancies and efforts to remediate
  • Supporting a team of Engineers permanently deployed to several CONUS and OCONUS locations
  • Performing security baselining
  • Managing containerized applications
  • Providing technical briefs to Government representatives
  • Generating technical documentation, architecture, and after-action reports
  • Troubleshooting Linux systems deployed in development and production environments
  • Communicating effectively within the Intelligence Community and DoD
  • Conducting cyclical inventory and maintain account of Program hardware
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds in weight
