The Core Platforms & Services (CPS) team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Our services leverage Cloud Computing infrastructure on Azure while maintaining a strong commitment to secure, sovereign, and on-premises deployment architectures. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will be a key contributor to the design, deployment, and operation of our platform services, with a strong focus on on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. You will be responsible for building robust, automated solutions leveraging Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and OpenShift to deliver mission-critical public safety services. The ideal candidate has a passion for automation, deployment processes, and a solid background in both traditional infrastructure and modern container platforms, with essential skills in internal tool UI development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent with 6+ years of combined experience in Network Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Security Engineering.
  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving, growing, and agile environment.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Administration and Hardening
  • Shell and Python scripting/development
  • Red Hat OpenShift / Kubernetes / Docker
  • Azure Administration / Azure API / CLI
  • UI Development: Front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, NodeJS, Angular frameworks) for internal tooling
  • Networking (L3/L4 concepts, Firewalling)
  • GitOps methodologies and GitHub
  • Atleast 6+ years of combined experience in Network Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Security Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Administration and Hardening
  • Must be a U.S.Citizen

Responsibilities

  • Platform Deployment & Management: Design, implement, and manage mission-critical platform infrastructure utilizing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and OpenShift for sovereign and on-premises customer deployments.
  • Hybrid CI/CD: Design and implementation of the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline into multiple public cloud and On-prem regions.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation tools, scripts (primarily Python and Shell), and reusable components to provision, monitor, and scale infrastructure and applications.
  • Platform Tool Development: Contribute to the development of common platform services and internal tooling, including essential UI components (front-end knowledge) to enhance usability and management capabilities for sovereign deployments. Developing and deploying REST APIs
  • Hybrid Observability: Integrate and operate Azure tooling's, specifically Azure IOT and Observability solutions, to provide unified monitoring and management of hybrid and on-prem environments.
  • Network & Security: Provide expertise in L3/L4 networking (load balancers, firewalls) design, implementation, and troubleshooting in an on-premises enterprise context.
  • Reliability & Security: Define, meet, and ensure scalability, availability, security, and performance goals for all deployed platform services.
  • Support cloud platform operations and sovereign operations including issue troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Assist in reviews and audits conducted at various points in the software life cycle.
