Job Role and Responsibility: AMD Design LLC, a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring Sr. PC Board Design Engineers to Support CAD Layout studies to show feasibility for Server board, card, and system concepts. Work with Board Design Engineers and Signal Integrity Engineers to support constraint-driven design. Drive DFM and DFT processes consistent with AMD’s PCBA and Fab vendors’ requirements. Create custom library parts (outside of standard Common Library) to support accelerating layout studies. Work with PCB vendors on stack-up proposals, materials, impedance rules, mechanical considerations, and resolve DFM issues. Support overlay and review of Gerbers/Artwork. Interface with cross-functional departments: Signal Integrity Engineering, Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Assembly & Test, and QA group. Review Customer board designs and provide feedback for layout improvements, layer reductions, and/or cost reduction opportunities. Multiple openings. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in an engineering or related role.
  • Position requires two (2) years of experience in the following: 1.Server architecture, system-level design, and familiarity with Processor or Chip Platform Design Guidelines (PDG); 2.One or more Gerber Artwork tools: CAM350, Valor, or Viewmate; 3.PCB CAD; 4.One or more CAD layout tools: Cadence, Mentor Graphics, or Altium; and 5.Routing of high-speed serial buses and Fabrics including SAS/SATA, PCIe, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, or Ethernet.
