About The Position

The part-time Sr. Payroll Specialist is to support accurate and timely processing of payroll across the U.S. and select international regions. This position is also responsible for ensuring payroll-related disbursements are processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This position will also handle payroll preparation, audits, and employee inquiries while partnering closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors. Location: Remote (Local candidates only - onsite attendance required as needed). Hours: Up to 20 hours a week.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance (preferred), or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years payroll processing experience required.
  • Prior experience using Paylocity is required.
  • Expensive experience in payroll management, including multi-state.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing timekeeping, and wage and hour regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll system functionality and the ability to effectively utilize Paylocity.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other payroll-related tools.
  • Ability to analyze data, reconcile reports, and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees at all levels.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential payroll information.
  • Ability to distinguish colors if needed to perform the job.
  • Ability to work onsite as required by business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with both Paylocity and Paycom is a plus.
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle payroll on a bi-weekly and semi-monthly schedule in Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
  • Manage and audit timecard submissions and ensure accurate calculations.
  • Administer international payrolls through third-party provider.
  • Review and analyze current payroll and payroll related benefits and tax procedures.
  • Review payroll data and reports for accuracy before transmission.
  • Assist with payroll tax filings, payments, corrections, and year-end reporting.
  • Support new state or locality tax setups as needed.
  • Resolve employee payroll questions and discrepancies, maintaining a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ensure payroll practices comply with FLSA, state wage and hour laws, and internal policies.
  • Process wage garnishments, child support, levies, tax changes, and other mandatory deductions.
  • Maintain payroll documentation and support payroll, finance, and HR audits.
  • Lead efforts to address payroll codes and implement corrections to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors to align payroll operations with business goals.
  • This position requires flexibility to work onsite when business needs arise.
