The Sr. Payroll Specialist is the primary owner of payroll processing, including adjustments, off-cycle payrolls and internal control audits. The role is involved in improving the operations and contributing to the overall teammate experience from the Payroll Department. This role is responsible for helping to drive continuous improvement across payroll.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 Year /Associate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in payroll experience in fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the payroll process including new hire, time entry, disbursements, general ledger, W2, as well as an understanding of how these processes connect
  • Proficient with Excel
  • Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing team environment
  • Strong communication skills with a customer service mindset
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to assess existing processes and suggest improvements
  • Experience with a payroll of at least 3000 employees

Responsibilities

  • Point of contact for employees for time and attendance and payroll
  • Collecting timesheet data and payroll information
  • Entering data into payroll and administrative databases
  • Calculating wages, benefits, tax deductions, as needed
  • Preparing and processing paychecks
  • Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
  • Troubleshoot and resolves all payroll-related inquiries or concerns
  • Performing payroll reconciliations
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports for review by management
  • Verifies with Human Resources timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
  • Facilitates audits
  • Performs other duties as assigned
