About The Position

The Sr Payroll & Operations Specialist is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing and  supporting core HR operations for Samyang America and affiliated entities. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll while maintaining compliance with U.S. regulations and supports international payroll coordination (Canada & Mexico via EOR), benefits and 401(k) administration, and internal reporting/analytics. This position partners closely with HR leadership and Finance to support a fast-growing organization.

Requirements

  • Experience in multi-state and multi-entity environments
  • Familiarity with California payroll and HR compliance
  • Experience with 401(k) plan administration and audits
  • ERP/payroll accounting experience (e.g., SAP)

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Operations
  • Process semi-monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now across multiple states (CA, TN, etc.)
  • Review and validate timecards, overtime, travel time, and leave records
  • Ensure compliance with federal/state wage & hour laws (including California requirements)
  • Maintain payroll data for new hires, changes, and terminations
  • Process bonuses, incentives, stipends, and special payments
  • Manage taxes, benefits deductions, garnishments, and 401(k) contributions
  • Process Payroll vendor invoices
  • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and support year-end (W-2) processing International Payroll / EOR Coordination
  • Coordinate payroll for Canada and Mexico via Deel
  • Manage EOR payroll activities including employee updates, payroll funding, and invoice validation
  • Review payroll reports and ensure alignment with internal records and budgets
  • Partner with vendor to ensure local compliance (tax and labor requirements)
  • HR Operations & Benefits Administration
  • Support health, dental, vision, and other benefits administration (enrollments, changes, terminations)
  • Coordinate with brokers and carriers for eligibility, billing, and issue resolution
  • Assist with open enrollment and employee communications
  • Support 401(k) administration, including:
  • Contribution setup and payroll deductions
  • Eligibility tracking and enrollment support
  • Coordination with plan providers for compliance and reporting
  • Reconcile benefit invoices and payroll deductions for accuracy
  • Manage Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting processes, including coordination, review, and distribution of Form 1095-C, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRS requirements.
  • Reporting & Data Analysis
  • Prepare regular internal reports (headcount/talent updates, payroll summaries, labor cost reports)
  • Analyze payroll and HR data to identify trends, variances, and cost drivers
  • Support leadership with ad hoc reporting and data requests
  • Assist in KPI tracking, workforce analytics, and budget vs. actual analysis
  • Ensure data accuracy across HR, payroll, and finance systems
  • Payroll Accounting & HR Operations Support
  • Support GL mapping and payroll journal entries (SAP or equivalent)
  • Reconcile payroll, tax, and benefits-related accounts
  • Assist with payroll-related budgeting and forecasting
  • Support general HR operations processes (employee data management, audits, documentation)
  • Compliance & Process Management
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll and HR regulations
  • Maintain documentation and support audits (payroll, benefits, 401k)
  • Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls
  • Employee Support
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, benefits, and 401(k)
  • Guide managers on payroll, timekeeping, and HR processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support HR Operations and organizational needs.
