About The Position

The Sr. Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of multi-jurisdictional payroll and serves as the subject matter expert for payroll tax compliance, reporting, and payroll-related analytics. This role ensures full compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and regulations while continuously improving payroll processes, controls, and systems. The Sr. Payroll Administrator partners closely with People (HR), Finance, and external agencies to ensure operational excellence and compliance integrity.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive payroll, including multi-state payroll processing.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local payroll tax regulations and wage and hour laws.
  • High Proficiency using a payroll software system, ADP workforce now.
  • Experience with payroll reporting and analytics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • HR Certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly multi-jurisdictional payroll accurately and timely.
  • Maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and pay rate changes.
  • Maintain and audit employee data within HRIS and timekeeping platform (ADP Workforce Now).
  • Prepare and maintain payroll records, reports, and audit documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local payroll, wage and hour laws.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for payroll tax compliance, agency notices, tax registrations and issue resolution.
  • Reconcile payroll data and support partnership with Finance for payroll-related general ledger activities.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities including W-2 preparation and tax reporting.
  • Develop, analyze, and distribute payroll and workforce analytics reports to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes, systems, controls, and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit employment verifications in accordance with company policy.
  • Support internal and external payroll audits.
