About The Position

The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing Specialty Dental Brands’ network infrastructure with a strong focus on Fortinet technologies. This role involves analyzing performance, troubleshooting complex issues, deploying and upgrading network hardware, and providing senior-level support to IT engineers and desktop support teams. The Sr. Network Engineer will work cross-functionally to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable network operations across the organization.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in diverse IT roles with extensive hands-on work across network devices (Fortinet strongly preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure support, DNS, routers, switches, and enterprise networking concepts.
  • Experience designing and supporting complex system topologies and network architectures.
  • Experience with SD-WAN and Wireless Access Points (Fortinet experience a plus).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using automation or scripting tools (Python preferred) to enhance operational efficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain network solutions leveraging Fortinet technologies.
  • Configure, optimize, and support firewalls, switches, access points, SD-WAN, VLANs, IPSEC, Site-to-Site VPN, and security appliances (Fortinet, Meraki, Unifi, SonicWall).
  • Develop scalable and resilient network architectures aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Implement and maintain Fortinet security policies, rules, and best practices to ensure a strong security posture.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic for anomalies, security events, and potential threats, initiating remediation as needed.
  • Provide Tier-3 escalation support for complex network issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and collaborate with internal teams to resolve incidents efficiently.
  • Monitor network performance, health, and capacity to ensure high availability.
  • Identify and resolve network bottlenecks, latency issues, and performance challenges.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to align performance strategies.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, SOPs, and asset records.
  • Keep documentation current to support troubleshooting, audits, and training.
  • Partner with IT leadership and key stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective network solutions.
  • Evaluate and implement new Fortinet capabilities and other network technologies.
  • Conduct peer reviews of network designs, configuration changes, and deployments.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend modern solutions to support organizational growth.
  • Serve as an escalation point and participate in on-call rotations for after-hours incidents.
  • Support additional operational tasks as required.
