About The Position

Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to be a key technical resource and act as a team lead for networking activities supporting the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC). This is a full-time position.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in network engineering and administration in the last seven years.
• HS diploma or GED.
• Network-related certifications desired.
• Experience prioritizing network outages, projects and tasks.
• Extensive experience providing technical assistance and resolution to teams in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair network infrastructure.
• Able to design and implement operational network systems and prototypes according to current and future engineering data and Government requirements.
• Extensive experience with routers; core, distribution, and access layer switches; firewalls; web content filtering devices; and intrusion detection/prevention (IDS/IDP) devices.
• Experience with cloud engineering and migration strategies.
• Able to communicate, coordinate and resolve technical issues with OneNet Engineering personnel within the entire DHS network topology including the DHS Data Centers (DC).
• Comfortable interacting with technical and non-technical staff and all levels of an organization to understand business needs and recommend technical solutions.
• Must have strong communication and organization skills.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and resolution to teams in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair network infrastructure.
• Design and implement operational network systems and prototypes according to current and future engineering data and Government requirements.
• Maintain enterprise network infrastructure at optimal performance levels while ensuring adherence to DHS and FLETC security standards.
• Collaborate with Network and System Engineers, equipment vendors, and other personnel to identify, define, and solve trending or developmental problems.
• Review and make technical recommendations to all Infrastructure Change Control Board (ICCB) packets prior to submittal and ensure recommendations are coordinated, understood, and implemented correctly during network rollouts.
