A role on Target’s Media team is an opportunity to elevate Target Marketing by leveraging media trends, data, and technology to drive meaningful impact. In this role, you will help lead the development of media strategies that support the growth of Target’s brand and business. You will partner closely with internal teams and external agencies, media, content, and technology partners to create cohesive, audience-centric media experiences that connect with consumers. In this role on the Media Investment Strategy team , you will be responsible for shaping and driving Target’s video media investment strategy to maximize value for the enterprise. You will lead Target’s Video Upfront and provide strategic direction to media agency partners responsible for planning and activating video investments across linear TV, CTV, and digital video. This role partners closely across Target to understand business priorities and marketing needs, translating them into clear, actionable, video-led strategies executed through agency teams. Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in media investment with deep expertise across video channels , including Linear TV, CTV/Streaming, and Digital Video (e.g., YouTube and online video platforms)
  • Proven experience leading the TV Upfront and scatter buying process , including investment strategy, negotiations, commitments, and ongoing optimization
  • Demonstrated ability to own end-to-end video investment strategy , from annual upfront planning through in-year adjustments and optimization
  • Extensive experience overseeing media teams responsible for video planning, buying, and activation, with the ability to set clear direction, expectations, and accountability
  • Strong capability to review, challenge, and approve agency-developed video plans , ensuring alignment to business goals, audience strategy, and performance targets
  • Experience managing media performance , including scopes of work, KPIs, ways of working, and continuous improvement
  • Deep understanding of the evolving video ecosystem , including linear TV, CTV platforms, streaming marketplaces, digital video publishers, and ad-supported models
  • Ability to guide video investment decisions using data, measurement frameworks, and performance insights (e.g., reach, frequency, CPMs, outcomes-based KPIs)
  • Proven experience adapting upfront and video investment plans throughout the year , reallocating spend based on performance, inventory availability, and changing business priorities
  • Strong expertise in cross-screen video planning , optimizing reach and frequency across linear, CTV, and digital video environments
  • Experience leading media negotiations directly and in partnership with agency teams, including pricing, guarantees, flexibility, and value-added opportunities
  • Ability to translate complex media and marketplace dynamics into clear recommendations for senior leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills with marketing, media planning, creative, analytics, finance, and agency partners to ensure video investment supports broader enterprise goals
  • Demonstrated leadership presence with experience mentoring team members or leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
