About The Position

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that utility and process systems are designed to required codes and standards and established design criteria. You will assist with delivering challenging design basis documents such as calculations, drawings, and reports, as well as developing required procurement documents such as specifications and material requisitions that will be used in the equipment procurement process. Your leadership will look to you to provide guidance to junior engineers and develop innovative solutions to technical challenges while still ensuring that the unique and complex requirements of the task are met. Additionally, you will provide input to help track the progress of deliverables to ensure that they meet schedule requirements and support leadership with input to trends. Part-Time Telework: This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
  • Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns-including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries -are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
  • Requires extensive technical knowledge and understanding of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and materials, applications of computer software to engineering problems to ensure the design is cost effective, in accordance with applicable safety, health, environmental regulations, customer requirements and engineering codes and standards.
  • Nuclear experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills are essential.
  • Related experience includes but is not limited to experience in performing calculations and design, including documentation, related to hydraulics, equipment sizing, and overall system design for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fluid system design in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designing the fluid and gas systems in the WTP process facilities.
  • Responsible for assisting with discipline work process execution in a technically adequate manner and in accordance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
  • Preparing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), technical reports, studies, design documentation, calculations using engineering software, and specifications for complex mechanical equipment for the waste treatment process and supporting systems.
  • Interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the development of the design.
  • Mentoring junior engineers.
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
  • Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule.
  • Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities.
